How to Prepare for Ambulatory EEG
AMBULATORY ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM (AEEG) INSTRUCTIONS:
A brief description of an Ambulatory EEG, there is only a single application of the electrodes. Once the electrodes are placed, you may go home and resume your regular activities with some restrictions. (please see below)
1.) REQUIRED TIME: If this is your initial visit, please arrive 15 minutes early. Allow 1 hour for the set up of the study.
2.) ILLNESS: Please reschedule your study if you are sneezing or coughing excessively due to an illness, this may adversely affect the technical quality of the study.
3.) SLEEP: The night before you may have a normal amount of sleep, unless oth-erwise directed by your doctor.
4.) MEDICATIONS: Take all medications as prescribed, unless otherwise di-rected by your doctor.
5.) MEALS AND BEVERAGES: Please avoid all caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea and soda) and chocolate . You may drink decaffeinated beverages and all other drinks. You may have meals.
6.) HAIR: Prior to your study, please ensure that your hair is washed and dried. As certain hair products may prevent the electrodes from sticking to the scalp. This includes oils, gels and hairspray. Please do not use braids, hair extensions, dreadlocks, weaves or toupees as they also prevent the electrodes sticking to the scalp.
7.) CLOTHING: You are unable to pull anything over your head once the elec-trodes are in placed. We advise wearing loose clothing that buttons in the front.
